This course introduces students to acrylic painting and encourages creative compositions. The first 8 sessions of Acrylic Painting will introduce participants to the medium and techniques, working on still life and landscape compositions and subjects. This skill is important, for anyone who is transitioning from drawing and sketching to transfer their skills to acrylic painting. Subsequently, students may bring their own painting references and receive guidance from our professional instructors to create their masterpieces!
Suitable for beginners to those with minimal experience in sketching and other mediums, students will be introduced to the foundations of Acrylic painting and learn the many techniques involved in producing a good Acrylic painting. Students will be guided in each lesson to work with different subject matter to achieve the learning objective of going through foundational knowledge to advanced techniques.
This course is also suitable for those with experience in acrylic painting as a refresher to formalise their painting techniques.
Adult and teenager who are interested in picking up acrylic painting may also take this class as a way of picking up basic drawing and sketching techniques, as well as observational skills that will be taught over the course of the lessons.

The following art courses are for the Art Immersion Course and Acrylic painting course. The art courses are available at both our Dhoby Ghaut Art Studio and MacPherson Art Studio, please choose your preferred location.
All sessions are to be completed within the course duration stated. No refunds are provided for any courses/workshops/lesson purchased. Further extension of course validity of up to one month only may be provided with proof of overseas travel, hospitalization/medical certificate.
The course package(s) is/are valid within the stated date of registration. Each session under the adult and teenager course package is 2 hours 15 minutes. Visual Arts Centre reserves the right to reject/reschedule your lesson if you are late. Visual Arts Centre reserves the right to cancel/reschedule/postpone any course/session without prior notice. In the event that the course is unable to proceed due to unforeseen circumstances, a full refund of the fees will be provided. The registrant/guardian of the registrant indemnifies and holds Visual Arts Centre and/or its staff harmless from any losses sustained from any activity within the premises of Visual Arts Centre, including personal injury/loss or damages to property.

Since its initiation on 31 January 2016, the Visual Arts Centre Exhibition Gallery has hosted over two hundred international and local art and design exhibitions, boasting a diverse range of art styles and programmes.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
