Visual Arts Centre’s Holiday Youth Art Immersion Course is the perfect programme for youths to explore new mediums and build up their foundational art techniques. This fully immersive holiday programme allows them to dip their toes into learning and practising art.

Whether it is picking up a new hobby or getting a kick-start in building an Art Portfolio for an art school admission in the future, the Holiday Intensive Boot Camp Course for youth is perfect to provide a quick and immersive experience in art!

At Visual Arts Centre, we provide opportunities for young art learners to develop artistic knowledge and skills through a range of media, forms and expressions. Students will be able to experience different mediums to elevate their creative juices and grow to be independent in their art learning.

The Holiday Boot Camps aims to help youths explore the various mediums of art we have, as part of our ongoing professional art courses. By allowing them the opportunity to be in touch with different forms of art, they can discover a new hobby that is to their interest! While building up their creative minds we provide a safe space for them to fully explore their inner thoughts and creativity using art!

At Visual Arts Centre, we believe that each students learns at a different pace. Thus, the art class is conducted at individual student’s preference and abilities. The sessions will be taught according to their preferred mediums and will be given individual guidance by our professional art instructors.

For Youths between 10 – 18 years old

1. Holiday Bootcamp on Drawing & Sketching Course

Young art learners looking to advance in their art learning during this holiday, Professional Intensive Boot Camps – Drawing & Sketching is the perfect course for Youth age 10 – 18 years old.

In this Intensive boot Camp of 8 sessions, students will grasp and learn concepts and techniques taught in our Professional Drawing & Sketching course!

What can you expect?

Progressive art references in terms of difficulty and complexity
Understand different tonal values
Learn basic theory of Drawing & Sketching, be familiar with the uses of sketching tools
Understand Drawing & Sketching techniques and be introduced to various pencil strokes
Train your observation skills through still life drawing, understand the composition, correct proportions and perspectives of the still life

Beginner-friendly painting lessons of simple landscapes or an arrangement of fruits
Practice blending techniques
Understand colour theory and mixing
Train your observation skills through still life drawing, understand the composition, correct proportions and perspectives of the still life

4. Holiday Bootcamp on Digital Painting

What can you expect?

Beginner friendly sketching lessons on digital characters, cartoons or animals with background
Subject matters that you will engage in during the sessions
- Sketching Anatomy (character – facial, body, male/female)
- Stylization of characters (male/ female and costume)
- Creating good compositions – drawing dynamic scenes

During the course, students will:

Learn to basic human anatomy – with proportion
Gain observational skills on composition, correct proportions and perspectives of the art reference
Understand colour theory and mixing

Please bring your own digital device (. After the 8 weeks, students will take home 4 of their independent art projects, which they can proudly display at home.

Basic tools required for this digital painting workshop includes the following:

Either Procreate or relevant Adobe softwares (eg. Adobe Illustrator) and relevant digital tools
Laptop + Drawing Tablet (Wacom/Huion ect.)
Ipad with Apple Pencil/Pencil with pen pressure
Any smart tablet with pencil with pen pressure

Pen pressure is crucial in creating good digital art, as it gives you the option of defining the thickness and heaviness of each stroke as if you are using a real pencil! This adds the feeling of depth to your work, making it more impressive.

Softwares that you can use:

Laptop users – Free softwares like Krita or MediBang Paint works fine. If you have the budget, Photoshop would be the best choice.

Ipad users – Free softwares like Adobe Fresco or Clip Studio works fine. If you have the budget, Procreate will be the best choice.

Art materials and tools will not be provided for this workshop.

If you are considering kick-starting in doing artwork for a portfolio submission during this Holiday programme, Click Here for more info!

At Visual Arts Centre, we believe that each child learns at a different pace. Thus, each class will be conducted at your teen’s individual preferences and abilities. No workshop-style classes nor classroom styled teaching! Despite being in class with other students, your child will be taught according to their preferred mediums and will be given one-to-one individualised guidance by our professional instructors and studio assistants in regular intervals during the duration of each class.

Our holiday art programme would provide a good platform to build up a small portfolio and a good stepping stone to allow them to learn basic foundational techniques and advanced according to their level. These art training will go hand in hand with our Art Portfolio Preparation ( Process) Course for DSA or Diploma or university admission.

The Art Portfolio Preparation Course is perfect for students applying for local art academies such as School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA), or Fine Arts by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Lasalle College of Arts, National University of Singapore (NUS), School of Art, Design and Media ( ADM) course offered by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) or foreign art academies like University of Arts London (UAL) that requires students to prepare a personal art portfolio collection that reflect their good foundation in art and creative idea.

If your child want to enter their ideal art school, they can add to their artistic talents and enter the DSA Art Specialty Program. Visual Arts Centre provides training courses. These courses includes theory, basic to advanced drawing and sketching training, colour training, painting, three-dimensional composition courses, creative training, interview experience training and other preparation courses.
