The Teens and Youth Holiday Boot Camps aims to help youths explore the various mediums of art we have, as part of our ongoing professional art courses. By allowing them the opportunity to be in touch with different forms of art, they can discover a new hobby that is to their interest! While building up their creative minds we provide a safe space for them to fully explore their inner thoughts and creativity using art! At Visual Arts Centre, we believe that each students learns at a different pace. Thus, the art class is conducted at individual student’s preference and abilities. The sessions will be taught according to their preferred mediums and will be given individual guidance by our professional art instructors.

Young art learners looking to advance in their art learning during this holiday, Professional Intensive Boot Camps – Acrylic & Watercolour is the perfect course for Youth age 10 – 18 years old.

How will the Bootcamp be conducted?

  • Bootcamp will be conducted at Dhoby Ghaut Art Studio.
  • Our professional Art Instructor will be guiding the kids and teens mostly in the classroom, there will be outdoor-time (30-60mins) along the scenic view near the Dhoby Ghaut VAC Art Studio such as Fort Canning, Istana Park and National Museum Singapore.
  • Kids and Teens are recommended to bring their very own hats, insect repellent and water bottles.

In this course, you will learn the following:​

Youth (10-18YO) Holiday Classes - Introduction to Digital Drawing and Painting Bootcamp 5 Sessions $698nett

What is Digital Drawing and Digital Painting?

Digital drawing and digital painting refers to the process of creating artwork using digital tools and software. It involves using a digital drawing tablet or a computer with specialized software such as Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, or Clip Studio Paint, which offers a wide range of brushes, colours, and other digital tools.

These programs provide a digital canvas where artists can create and manipulate their artwork. Digital painting requires traditional painting skills as digital painting artworks are not premade and they are produced through a canvas through the software. With solid foundation of line, colouration, tonal, perspectives and imagination in traditional drawing, this would help to produce digital painting artworks in a more realistic form and present stronger 3D perspective effects.

Digital painting offers several advantages over traditional painting methods. It allows for easy undo and redo, while offering a wide range of digital brushes and effects. It also provides the convenience of working without the need for physical art supplies or extensive cleanup.

Lesson Highlights:
  • This course runs for 2 hours and 15 minutes for each session. It is suitable for beginners who have attended art classes previously or currently. This course is suitable for those who have no previous experience in digital art. 
  • The Digital Drawing and Painting course may be enrolled for ages 8-12 Years Old (*provided during March to June holidays), and is suitable for 10 Years Old and above.
  • There will be the foundation and theoretical knowledge taught to the students during their art classes.
  • Validity for twelve sessions is fourteen weeks with up to four make up classes.

This professional technical digital painting knowledge would help students to create complex and detailed digital artwork. By understanding the combination of artwork and landscape design, students will create artworks that are more realistic and appealing. Digital software application skills will help students in creative industries. With these advanced technologies, students are able to upskill their digital painting knowledge and techniques to prepare for future careers in digital art painting and design industries.

An overview of the basic steps we will be covering in the course to ease you in!
  1. Choosing the right size and resolution of the digital canvas, just as you would choose a physical canvas for traditional painting.
  2. Sketching and Drawing with the stylus or pen on a drawing tablet. Select different brushes and tools to create lines, shapes, and textures of your choice.
  3. Applying Colors and Textures using various brush types and settings. Feel free to blend colours to create gradient and contrast to achieve your desired effect.
  4. Digital painting allows the flexibility to create using multiple layers thus, artists can work on different elements of the artwork on separate layers to enable adjustments, and refine details without fear of affecting the entire composition.
  5. Upon completion, add final touches to enhance the overall appearance of the artwork.

At Visual Arts Centre, we believe that each child learns at a different pace. Thus, each class will be conducted at your teen’s individual preferences and abilities. No workshop-style classes nor classroom styled teaching! Despite being in class with other students, your child will be taught according to their preferred mediums and will be given one-to-one individualised guidance by our professional instructors and studio assistants in regular intervals during the duration of each class.

Art Portfolio Preparation (Process) Course for DSA or Diploma or university admission at Visualartscentre Singapore

Our holiday art programme would provide a good platform to build up a small portfolio and a good stepping stone to allow them to learn basic foundational techniques and advanced according to their level. These art training will go hand in hand with our Art Portfolio Preparation (Process) Course for DSA or Diploma or university admission.

The Art Portfolio Preparation Course is perfect for students applying for local art academies such as School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA), or Fine Arts by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Lasalle College of Arts, National University of Singapore (NUS), School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) course offered by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) or foreign art academies like University of Arts London (UAL) that requires students to prepare a personal art portfolio collection that reflect their good foundation in art and creative idea.

If your child want to enter their ideal art school, they can add to their artistic talents and enter the DSA Art Specialty Program. Visual Arts Centre provides training courses. These courses includes theory, basic to advanced drawing and sketching training, colour training, painting, three-dimensional composition courses, creative training, interview experience training and other preparation courses.

6. VAC X NTU ADM Workshop : Arts & Creativity Workshop

3 Hours 9 March 10am-1pm [10 Years & Above] This workshop seeks to introduce and guide students to study the process of creating and producing an original piece of art. Learn to scope and plan topics for your art practice and be engaged in mindmapping and brainstorming, drafting and experimentation, and come up with an artistic concept, sketches and prototype, or even be completing a work by the end of the workshop. The workshop focuses on introducing good practices and processes in the creation of art, and encourages students to be active in project work and sharing with workshop activities. Students will be divided into groups according to their ages. *A foundation in art is required for students attending this workshop. VAC Current Student $140nett, Public $150nett
