Workshops X Nanyang Technological University
VAC will be collaborating with NTU School of Art, Design and Media students and their lecturer for 3 special workshops happening from 27-30 December in conjunction with the NTU School of Art, Design and Media exhibition happening at VAC from 26 December – 31 December.
We’re glad to introduce three upcoming special workshop presented in collaboration with the NTU School of Art, Design and Media led by programme leader Yeo Ker Siang. Yeo holds a Master of Arts in Information Experience Design from Royal College of Art and nurtures students from NTU School of Art, Design and Media and SUTD.
These Visual Arts Centre x NTU School of Art, Design and Media workshops are designed for young enthusiasts of art, design, media and technology, from ages 10 and above. The required materials, if any, may be a mobile phone and/or a laptop. These Visual Arts Centre x NTU School of Art, Design and Media workshop fees are inclusive of the full programme, essential materials and lunch for day workshops.

Visual Arts Centre is an exhibition gallery and art studio at Dhoby Ghaut Green supported by the National Parks Board and the National Arts Council.
Since its initiation on 31 January 2016, the Visual Arts Centre Exhibition Gallery has hosted over two hundred international and local art and design exhibitions, boasting a diverse range of art styles and programmes.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
