Visual Arts Centre Singapore is a government-supported arts institution established in January 2016. The Centre organizes large-scale international art exhibitions and provides professional painting courses and training programmes. With a dedicated and highly qualified teaching team, as well as a well-structured curriculum system, the Visual Arts Centre has nurtured and developed many outstanding artistic talents since its inception.
Today, the Visual Arts Centre has launched the **Singapore Nanyang Art Experience Centre**, which regularly hosts exhibitions featuring local artists and showcases works by distinguished Singaporean painters. In addition, it offers art courses and workshops thoughtfully designed by a professional team of instructors. These programmes combine artistic rigor with engaging, hands-on experiences, making them suitable for beginners of all ages with no prior art background, as well as visitors to Singapore.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
