What is Batik Painting?
Unlike regular mediums, you do not use pen and paper for batik. Instead, you use cloth instead of paper, and wax instead of ink. When beginning a piece of batik work, you would draw a sketch using pencils of the design desired. Then, you would use a wax funnel – a tjanting, filled with hot melted wax, to trace over the patterns on the cloth. This type of batik painting art is known as batik tulis – which means writing, completely using wax by hand with the tjanting tool. From this batik tjanting method, you can see the changes in the variation in size and shapes of the wax flowing.

Writers (as graffiti artists are often called) employ their unique lettering styles, color combinations, and intricate designs to establish their individual identities. Techniques such as fading, shadowing, and 3D effects are commonly used to enhance the visual impact of graffiti pieces.
Spray paint artists use stencils, masking techniques, and a variety of tools to create intricate and detailed compositions on various surfaces.
Layering – This technique involves applying multiple layers of color and texture to add depth and dimension to the design. This technique can be achieved with the help of stencils or by painting several layers of paint freehand.
