Beginner's Worries

Drawing and sketching is the fundamental of all arts. In order to be good at your chosen medium, you will have to build up your foundation skills for techniques such as proportion, scale, tonal values and much more. Drawing and sketching is the best way to expand these skills which will greatly affect your overall art. Having a clear vision for your ending goal is good as well as you will know what to focus on when developing your foundational skills. You may then pursue your chosen medium after you develop your basic skills of course!

All art materials will be provided! So you do not need to worry and just come down to start your art.

It will be a group setting with individualised guidance. This means that there is usually 1 art instructor with 1-2 studio assistants going around to help everyone on their own artwork. This ensures that each lesson is tailored to you and you may focus on your own pace.

For a weekday class, there is usually 5-8 people with 1 art instructor. This is sufficient time as the session is 2 hours and 15 minutes long so the instructor will be able to guide you several times during the lesson. For weekends, there is an expected attendance of 15-18 people, with 1 art instructor and 1-2 studio assistants to ensure you are well guided.

The lesson does not need to be replaced. As long as you complete your package within the validity period, you may come down any of the class timings as many times of you week as you would like!

Art Courses

The teachers at Visual Arts Centre are professionally trained and adopt a structured approach to each lesson. They will assess your prior Art background on the first lesson, allowing them to be able to better guide you according to your individual needs and abilities during the lessons. We understand that every individual’s learning experience and pace varies and thus tailoring the lesson to your individual needs will ensure that you can learn comfortably at your own pace! Rest assured that you will receive individual attention from our teachers in the conducive environment we provide!
Yes, each lesson will be a continuation from the last. You will get to continue the piece of artwork you last left off on
The lessons can be conducted in both English and Chinese.

The package validity period depends on the package you sign up for, starting from the first class you attend.

  1. 8 session package is valid for 10 weeks 
  2. 12 session package is valid for 14 weeks
  3. 24session package is valid for 26 weeks
  4. 48 session package is valid for 52 weeks

Students will have to complete their sessions within the validity period of their particular course.

No, you do not need to. You only need to make a booking for your first session!

No problem at all. We operate on a flexible class schedule! For example, we welcome you to come for our Monday class if you’re a regular for our Saturday morning class but unable to make it for that particular week. There will be no extra fees incurred.

Yes we do! Portfolio preparations holds an utmost importance when it comes to going to the school of your dreams. At Visual Arts Centre, our professional art instructors are present to guide you in different art techniques so that you can create a myriad of works to impress the admission officers. We have a no refund policy for any Art lesson or Art course packages. However, in the event that you are not able to finish all the sessions you have purchased before the package expires due to unforeseen circumstances or valid reasons, we are always flexible when it comes to extending your package. Otherwise, you may buy another course package and the lessons will be carried forward.

Art Workshop

Yes we do! We offer monthly workshops if you are unable to commit to attending lessons weekly!

We have monthly workshops for 1) Nude Life Figure Drawing Workshop and 2) Portrait Drawing Workshop Do click on respective workshops for the more information!

We take pride in the fact that we:

  1. Provide a comfortable learning environment for those who are passionate about the Arts, regardless of age or calibre. Whether you are a beginner or seek to advance your Art skills, our Art courses are suitable for you! Our adept teachers will tailor their lesson to further develop your skills and techniques according to your level of proficiency and experience.
  2. Provide AFFORDABLE professional art courses, unparalleled to other studios in Singapore, with all art materials included in our course fees!
  3. Extended course validity and flexibility in attendance.
    We have an extended period of course validity, for example:
    8 sessions package – 10 weeks validity
    12 sessions package – 14 weeks validity
    24 sessions package – 26 weeks validity
    48 sessions package – 48 weeks validity
    This means that your attendance is taken only when you attend a class and you need not waste any lessons if you are unable to join a class on a particular week. You may join any session within the validity period of your package.
  4. Lastly, we are located a stone’s throw away from Dhoby Ghaut MRT! U-turn to the left when you exit from exit B or exit A of the MRT. (Refer to the picture below to locate us!)

World of Manga [Foundation & Styling]

A manga art workshop for children and teenagers sounds like a fantastic idea! Here’s how you might structure it:
Introduction to Manga: Begin by introducing what manga is, its history, and its influence on popular culture worldwide. Show examples of different manga styles and genres to give participants an overview.
Basic Drawing Techniques: Start with the fundamentals of drawing, such as line work, shapes, and proportions. Provide step-by-step instructions on how to draw basic manga characters, focusing on simple shapes that can be built upon.
Character Design: Move on to character design concepts, including creating unique characters, designing their personalities, and developing backstories. Encourage participants to get creative and think outside the box.
Expression and Emotion: Teach how to convey emotions and expressions through facial expressions, body language, and positioning of characters. This can be a fun and interactive exercise where participants practice drawing various emotions.

Academy Drawing Traditions

Chinese Ink Painting and Calligraphy

Funk with Graffiti

Funk With Graffiti Workshop for children is an engaging and creative program aimed at introducing young artists to the vibrant world of graffiti and funk-inspired street style art. Participants learn the basics of graffiti history, techniques, and safety. Guided by professional graffiti artists, children explore the art of designing their unique tags, emphasizing creativity, expression, and individuality. The workshop includes hands-on activities, from sketching concepts to creating final designs with spray paint on provided surfaces. By the end of the session, children gain confidence in their artistic abilities and an appreciation for graffiti and funk as legitimate forms of street art. Each child completes two original artworks, which they proudly take home, showcasing their newfound skills and personal style.

Batik Tales

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
