From 9 June to 12 June 2016, Chris Tay Art Advisory proudly presents The Nanyang Show 2016 at Visual Arts Centre. A showcase of 47 museum-quality works, they represent the Nanyang Style of painting dated since the 1930s by pioneer artists such as Yong Mun Sen, Chen Wen Hsi, Chia Yu Chian, Lee Cheng Yong, Kuo Ju Ping, Tan Choon Ghee, Khoo Sui Hoe, Ong Kim Seng, Tsai Horng Chung and more.
The Nanyang Show will allow art enthusiasts to immerse themselves in picturesque landscapes of the Southern Seas through an eclectic array of selected paintings, many of which are making their public appearance for the first time. For private or corporate collectors, this special selling exhibition offers an opportune moment to acquire exceptional pieces that carry significant historical narratives and cultural values.

Visual Arts Centre is an exhibition gallery and art studio at Dhoby Ghaut Green supported by the National Parks Board and the National Arts Council.
Since its initiation on 31 January 2016, the Visual Arts Centre Exhibition Gallery has hosted over two hundred international and local art and design exhibitions, boasting a diverse range of art styles and programmes.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
