2024 MULCIP Art 6th Exhibition Synopsis

In celebration of our mooncake collaboration between Michelin Star Chef Kang and artist Aaron Gan, Minerva Passion (a private group of patrons) is proud to bring you Reflections – a showcase of Aaron’s art journey through the years. Reflections opens with a bang at the Visual Arts Centre, 10 Penang Road #01-02, Dhoby Ghaut Green, Singapore 238469 on the evening of Friday 22nd of Sept 2017, and will remain there till Sunday 24 Sept 2017 before crossing over to Utterly Art Exhibition Space, 20B Mosque Street (Level 3), Singapore 059500 for the remainder of the show till Sunday 1st Oct 2017.
The Visual Arts Centre is open from 11am to 8pm daily on 23 and 24 Sept 2017.
But for Utterly Art from 25 Sept to 1 Oct, do call ahead. We are usually open BY APPOINTMENTS from Monday-Saturday from 2pm till 8pm and Sunday 12noon to 5.30pm. Contact us at 94872006 for APPOINTMENTS (Keng Hock).
The opening reception will be on Friday 22nd Sept 7PM in the evening at the Visual Arts Centre where food and drink will be served. The guest-of-honour will be Jeffrey Say, lecturer and art historian at the LASALLE Collage of the Arts. Members of the press are most welcome to visit. Dress should be Smart Casual. Attendance at the exhibition is FREE.
Aaron will conduct a FREE painting demonstration at 3pm on Sunday 24th Sept at the Visual Arts Centre. All are welcome.
Aaron Gan is the 2015 UOB Painting of the Year, Gold Award, Established Artist Category, Singapore winner for his painting Starry Starry Night.
Born in Singapore in 1979, Aaron Gan graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Dean’s List) from the University of Western Australia in 2003. To pursue his childhood dream of becoming an artist, Aaron gave up his corporate career and started painting full-time in 2012.

Visual Arts Centre is an exhibition gallery and art studio at Dhoby Ghaut Green supported by the National Parks Board and the National Arts Council.
Since its initiation on 31 January 2016, the Visual Arts Centre Exhibition Gallery has hosted over two hundred international and local art and design exhibitions, boasting a diverse range of art styles and programmes.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
