It is time again for another dynamic exhibition of contemporary Ganesha Art by Gnani Arts!
‘The Victory Icon: Contemporary Ganesha Art’ is another grand edition of Gnani Arts’ successful and celebrated series of contemporary Ganesha Art exhibitions since 2003. Curated by Singapore-born curator Vidhya Gnana Gouresan, this will be the 7th exhibition in the series. On a creative note and from a curatorial perspective, we have urged the artists of the exhibition to channel elucidating narratives, on personal, social and mythological levels, within and through their artworks for the exhibition, using the binary nature of the Hindu god Ganesha as a global icon who is both secular and religious in nature.
Gnani Arts is a Singapore-based art gallery and establishment that was founded almost 14 years ago. Apart from presenting and curating art exhibitions and projects internationally, we present one major exhibition in Singapore per year. ‘The Victory Icon: Contemporary Ganesha Art’ will be Gnani Arts’ much-anticipated exhibition for 2016 in Singapore.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
