Canvas of Hope 2025 Synopsis Canvas
Acrylic Painting on Canvas Team Bonding Art Jamming Singapore Visual Arts Centre

5 October to 8 October 2017
Proudly presented by Utterly Art – A Brush with Water showcases the fine watercolour works by five watercolourists – Chuah Teong Meow, Leong Chye Chye, Lok Kerk Hwang, Shan Hong and Tan Suz Chiang. A brush holding water and paint is pregnant with possibilities. But it requires the intercession of a master technician to unlock these possibilities into an image that we can understand, appreciate and be inspired by. An encounter with the five watercolourists of A Brush with Water reveals masters whose paintings run the gamut of experiential possibilities, from impressionistic abstraction to hard-edged hyperrealism.
Be immersed in the beautiful universe of watercolour and discover the watercolour styles of these masters hailing from Singapore, Malaysia and China.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
