On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of People’s Republic of China, Kaifeng Dasong Huang Ting Jian Culture Society invites five artists from Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Kaifeng, Xinxiang and Puyang, and organise the Singapore International Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition – ‘Zhong Yuan Qing, Han Mo Yuan’. This Exhibition is not only an event that brings the Zhong Yuan Chinese Art to overseas, but also as a blessing from the artists to their motherland.
Zhong Yuan is the centre of Arts and Culture in China since the ancient times. It is the land of creativity, arts and culture. It has developed a unique style of painting and calligraphy after thousands of years. Nowadays, the Zhong Yuan artists inherit the glorious tradition of the older generation, creating many artworks that depict and record the new era of China. At the same time, a group of influential artists and calligraphers had been raised, and made a huge contribution to the development of Chinese art.
Chinese painting and calligraphy is a traditional culture treasure. This exhibition aimed to explore the Ideology, humanistic spirit and ethics embodied in the traditional Chinese culture. It also enhance the culture exchange between Singapore and China, to publicise the beautiful Chinese culture globally.
As a country that supports the “Belt and Road Initiative”, Singapore has bring in the positive energy to the exchange of Singapore-Chinese art and culture. The establishment of the Singapore Chinese Cultural Center shows the concern of culture exchange from the leaders of China and Singapore, as well as the people from both countries. It also marks a new stage in the exchange of humanities between the two countries. Let’s enhance and strengthen the friendship bridge between the Zhong Yuan and Singapore through Chinese painting and calligraphy.
在新中国建立70周年即将到来之际,开封市大宋黄庭坚文化研究会盛邀郑州、洛阳、开封、新乡、濮阳中原五地多位书画名家,共同策划举办《中原情·翰墨缘》新加坡国际书画作品展,此次展览既是中原书画艺术走出国门的盛举,也是中原书画艺术家向祖国献上的一份美好祝福。
中原自古以来即为书画艺术的汇聚之地、兴盛之地。中原是一方富有创造力的艺术沃土,历经数千年的深厚积淀,铸就了独具特色的书画艺术风格。当今时代,中原书画家们秉承老一辈艺术家的光荣传统,激情记录新时代、描绘新时代、抒写新时代,勇攀艺术新高峰,推出了大量饱含时代气息的经典之作,同时也造就出了一批深具影响力的书画名家,为促进中国书画艺术的繁荣发展做出了积极贡献。
中国书画是集厚重的文化内涵、艺术创造和实用为一体的传统文化瑰宝。举办这次书画展就是为了深入挖掘中华优秀传统文化蕴含的思想观念、人文精神和道德规范,结合时代要求继承创新,使中华文化展现出永久的魅力和时代风采。推动中新文化交流,让优秀的中华文化走出国门,走向世界是我们举办这次书画展的目的,也是每位中原参展书画家的共同夙愿。
新加坡作为较早支持“一带一路”倡议的国家,为中新文化艺术交流注入了正能量。现已落成并投入使用的新加坡中国文化中心既倾注了中新两国领导人的关怀、友好人士的关心,也标志着两国人文领域的交流进入了新阶段。中原情系华夏梦,翰墨缘深聚狮城。让我们架起友谊之桥梁,以中国书画为媒,带着中原人民的深情厚谊结缘于狮城!

Visual Arts Centre is an exhibition gallery and art studio at Dhoby Ghaut Green supported by the National Parks Board and the National Arts Council.
Since its initiation on 31 January 2016, the Visual Arts Centre Exhibition Gallery has hosted over two hundred international and local art and design exhibitions, boasting a diverse range of art styles and programmes.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
