In celebration and as an ode to childhood memories and dreams, Let Me Take you to Where the Magic Happens teases the personal and surreal encounters of artist Inessa K’s tender years, and juxtapose them with fresh memories from her adulthood. Through impressionistic colour renderings and examination of poetic themes surrounding imagination and the unconscious, Inessa subtly hints that perhaps, unbeknownst to most of us, we all have an inner child – the one with infinite dreams and endless joy.
Effervescent and poetic – that’s the resounding theme for artist Inessa K’s wildly original artworks. Inessa’s gorgeous collages are as complexly- choreographed as a dance, which makes sense because she is a dancer too. Although born in Kazakhstan and a citizen of Russia, Inessa has travelled extensively in pursuit of her art. She sharpened her skills under renowned artists at Central St. Martin’s College of Arts in London, the Ruskin School University of Oxford, and the Russian Academy of Arts, and has called Singapore her home for the last 13 years. Her artworks are in private collections in UK, Singapore, Russia, Kazakhstan, Japan, Australia, Austria, India and Dubai.
This is not your ordinary exhibition as Inessa has lined up many exciting activities throughout the whole duration here at Visual Arts Centre:
