Yang Bailiang is a National First-Class Artist and a highly esteemed figure in the art world, serving as Vice President of the China Calligraphy and Painting Academy and holding key positions in cultural institutions, including as an Executive Director of the China Traditional Culture Promotion Association and a Visiting Professor at multiple universities.
Renowned for his mastery of classical Chinese painting, he specializes in historical figures, mythology, landscapes, and traditional culture, with acclaimed series such as The Filial Piety Scrolls and The Portraits of Chinese Sages.
His works, celebrated for their exquisite brushwork and spiritual depth, have earned him prestigious accolades, including “One of China’s Ten Most Influential Artists” and the China’s Best Creative Painter Gold Award. His painting Confucius is permanently housed at the United Nations, and he has showcased his art in major cities worldwide, including Beijing, Hong Kong, Milan, Paris, and London. Recognized as “China’s Leading Painter in Liquor Culture”, he continues to shape the global appreciation of traditional Chinese art, most recently with his 2024 solo exhibition in Singapore, Righteous Spirit Fills the Universe. Beyond his artistic achievements, Yang is a dedicated educator and cultural ambassador, committed to preserving and advancing China’s artistic heritage.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
