Art Therapy for Parent-Child
Visual Arts Centre is a Professional Arts Institution
Parent-Child together completing their child T-shirt Painting
Through the Parent-Child & Family Art Therapy Program session, parents and children accompany each other and be able to listen and understand how each other feels and what they are thinking and going through. Parents and children can communicate with each other non-verbally, explore emotions. Parent-Child & Family Art Therapy Program is suitable for any children of different ages, be it young kids or teenage or adult children to improve their mental health.
A Parent-Child & Family, Art Therapy Program is helpful where parents and children can spend valuable family bonding time, to create artwork together. During the therapeutic and calm parent and children art therapy session, parents can understand how children think and feel through different colour mediums and subjects. And this Parent-Child & Family art therapy session would help parents to understand the children’s dream, experience, insight and emotional growth, and to resolve inner conflicts.
Parent-Child & Family Art Therapy Program would help to heal traumatised children that experience childhood trauma like school violence, physical bully abuse and verbal abuse. Parent-Child & Family Art Therapy Program is here to help and offer an open-hearted, non -judgemental or criticising environment on the final artworks, but to offer help and guidance according to the process of artwork making. Parents will understand how to communicate with their children and build a supportive parent and children relationship together.
Our Visual Arts Centre’s Parent-Child & Family, Art Therapy Program at MacPherson Art Studio will start with a quick assessment with both parents and children to understand what issues the parents and children are looking to solve. Our cozy studio is decorated with nature plants with artworks, offering visitors a strong sense of artistic vibe! It is conveniently situated within AZ@Paya Lebar Building, opposite MacPherson MRT exit A and comes with convenient direct ramp-up parking, and easy lift accessibility.
During the Parent-Child & Family Art Therapy session with parents and children, we provide all art materials with exploring mediums like tote bag painting, acrylic painting on canvas, air clay moulding and full guidance. Upon artwork completion, we will interpret the artwork’s subject and the painting’s meaning and suggest/share relevant solutions towards improving children’s mental health well well-being like emotions and experience!

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
