What can you expect to learn within this Course?

Study-of-Anatomy-Figure-Drawing and Sketching

1st Session: Introduction to Artistic Figure Drawing

  • Approach to study (osteology+myology, form & function, shape & mass, landmarks)
  • Academic Drawing and Constructive Drawing
  • Proportion of bones, methods of relative measurement ( as standard of measurement)
  • Artistic canons of proportion (7.5/8 heads tall)
  • Contraposto, balance 
Study-of-Anatomy-Figure-Drawing and Sketching

2nd Session: Anatomy of Torso 

(Ribcage, Pelvis)

  • Learning the Shape, then Form, then the landmarks (Standard procedure for studying anatomy)
  • Understanding the myriad shapes that form the torso, and the components of the torso
  • Crafting the volume and mass of the human form in reference to the human skeletal structure through tonal value
  • Learning the proportions and placements of the various landmarks of the human torso

3rd-4th Sessions: Anatomy of Lower Limbs & Upper Limbs Drawing and Sketching

  • Understanding the components of the lower limbs (foot, ankle, knee, etc.)
  • Studying the relationship between the components; their proportions in reference to each other, joints 
  • Studying musculature (the flexing and relaxing of muscles, representation of tension or lack thereof 
  • Exploring distortions caused as a result of perspective, such as foreshortening.

5th-6th Sessions: Putting together I & II Figure Drawing and Sketching

Drawing from Reference:

  • Practice drawing the human body in its entirety.
  • Refine and practice drawing each component of the figure relative to each other.
  • Explore a variety of dynamic poses and learn to capture movement.
  • Study the natural shifting of weight and balance of the human body (contrapposto)

Drawing from Live Model:

  • With a live model as a subject, study and observe the human form in the context of its surroundings
  • Study the relationship between the human forms and light
  • Experiment with gestural drawing; capturing the kineticism and dynamism of the pose in rapid-fire sketches
  • Observe the different textures of the human body, such as skin and hair

About – Nude Life Drawing Workshop with Artist Guidance

The Nude Life Figure Drawing Workshop is a 2.5 hours session.

What will you learn in this Nude Life Figure Drawing Workshop:

  • An understanding and approach on how to get started on figure drawing

Our nude drawing courses are suitable for all levels and are taught by our teachers.

There will be a long pose for everyone to grasp a good drawing of the nude model and we may have some short poses as well. A short break will be taken every 15-20 minutes. Participants may feel free to ask our art instructor any questions to get help on their drawing work.

For our more experienced participants, this Nude Life Figure Drawing Workshop is an absolute value add to your portfolio. Or even just to improve your life (and live) drawing skills.

Every life figure drawing session is fresh and you will experience drawing new poses and gestures. The models may change as well, so there’ll be more practice on drawing different human figures. You will also be guided on more advanced skills, enhancing your skills and knowledge in the field of live sketching.

Our Nude Drawing workshops provide all art materials, as well as professional instruction.

Our Workshop begins with a brief introduction of the human anatomy and methods of observation and sketching. Then, you will be guided by a professional artist through the figure drawing process. If you require assistance, do not hesitate to ask our friendly artist on the next steps to take!

The cost of the sessions includes all art materials with the model fees covered.

Nude Life Drawing Workshop Overview

7:15pm – 7:30pm
Registration and preparation of materials.
* Please reach by 7:30pm.

7:30pm – 10pm
Life drawing commences.
We will be doing a series of poses, short and long ones with a few minutes of break intermittently (around every 15 to 20 minutes).

All art materials for drawing will be provided. They include: sketch boards, easels, sketching papers, pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B), charcoal, erasers and watercolour paint.

Light refreshments of hot and cold water, tea bags, instant coffee and biscuits are complimentary.

*** If you are a professional learner with an expertise in drawing and sketching, you can bring along your the medium of choice (or ask us — our studio may just have what you need!) and complete the session using your preferred medium. ***

Validity

The purchase of 4 Workshop Sessions of $280 nett is applied to either Nude/Portrait Life Drawing Workshop. The validity of the workshop sessions is 4 months from the attendance of the first session, or up to 4 months from the date of registration/purchase.

World of Manga [Foundation & Styling]

A manga art workshop for children and teenagers sounds like a fantastic idea! Here’s how you might structure it:
Introduction to Manga: Begin by introducing what manga is, its history, and its influence on popular culture worldwide. Show examples of different manga styles and genres to give participants an overview.
Basic Drawing Techniques: Start with the fundamentals of drawing, such as line work, shapes, and proportions. Provide step-by-step instructions on how to draw basic manga characters, focusing on simple shapes that can be built upon.

Batik Tales
