During our travels, when faced with the beauty of nature, we often experience an impulse to capture the breathtaking scenery before our eyes – if only we could depict this sight! With joining us at Singapore Visual Arts Centre Singapore for the Professional Urban Landscape Sketching Course, our experienced art instructors will guide you to do urban landscape sketching while exploring, capturing the magnificence of nature and documenting the essence of your journey!
Our Professional Urban Landscape Sketching Course will involve materials such as sketchbooks, pencils, pens, coloured markers, and watercolours to learn the techniques of sketching. Within this Professional Urban Landscape Sketching Course, students will venture into nature, studying the methods of depicting landscape elements such as mountains, trees, flowers, houses and architecture sketching. We will explore drawing figures, and learn the skills of sketching on-site, selecting subjects, and capturing the movement of people.
Mastering the art of urban landscape sketching, known as “sketching on the move,” is a highly practical and fun drawing method. Especially for those who enjoy art, taking inspiration from the outdoors can stimulate one’s creativity, providing a wealth of subject matter for future works of art. The process itself is a unique experience – not only do you practice the technical skill of drawing, but also gain a newfound appreciation for the scenery around you.
The world around us is full of beautiful and vibrant landscapes, which you can learn to capture within the pages of your sketchbook. This course is suitable for artists of all skill levels, from beginners who are new to sketching, to advanced artists who wish to explore urban landscape drawing.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
