Visual Arts Centre presents the best portrait drawing course in Singapore, Study of Anatomy – The Art of Figure Drawing, a Foundational Figure Drawing Course that is perfect for you! Suitable for beginners and those with some experience with drawing and sketching, but are interested in drawing human figures.
During The Art of Figure Drawing, our progressive curriculum ensures that all participants will be able to advance their proficiency in portrait drawing regardless of their prior level of skill. In six sessions, this portrait drawing course will teach the fundamentals of good observational drawing such as accurate sighting of angles, proportion and tonal values, as well as knowledge of proper representation of the form, volume, weight and balance of the human body.
During The Art of Figure Drawing, students will be instructed in the use of dry mediums such as graphite and charcoal, with focus on the proper representation of tonal value and linework to convey the human body.
This portrait drawing course offers professional guidance and demos from our friendly Instructor.
At the end of the six sessions, students will have gained the proficiency to use the techniques taught to complete several portrait drawings of your own. Furthermore, they will be able to complete them quickly and accurately!
This portrait drawing course will consist of a small group size. This ensures that our instructor will have more time with each student to give individualized advice relevant to each student.

Within one to two lessons, you will be able to utilise the techniques taught to complete a drawing of your own. No one will ever know you’ve only attended one lesson!

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
