Hosted at the Visual Art Centre @ Dhoby Ghaut Green, this one-of-a-kind dance class and the social dancing party shall transport you back to the Retro 80s as you jive and groove to the iconic beats of French Rock and Roll! Led by a pair of experienced dance instructors, you’ll first learn the basics of LeRoc (French Rock Dance) and practise signature moves and techniques before relaxing into an evening of fun social dancing and partying.
This event is suitable for dance beginners to those who have prior experience in French Rock or other dance forms! Take this chance to learn a new dance genre, enjoy a fun-filled Retro themed dance party, and make some new friends as you partner up and dance to new songs!
Leroc is a smooth partner dance that combines elements of swing, salsa and ballroom. It involves a rock step and side step, with turns and dips added for variation. Connection and communication between partners are key. It’s a fun and accessible dance style for all levels and occasions.
Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a beginner, this class is designed to cater to all skill levels, providing a fun and welcoming atmosphere for everyone to enjoy!

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
