Two Sides of The Canvas
画家简介:I paint, I draw, and I deeply care about aesthetics—composition, colour, light, and shadow. These elements infuse my work with emotion, giving each piece its voice, a voice that resonates with viewers, drawing them into the experience. Over the years, I have created posters, illustrations, comics, and animations, and designed postcards, bookmarks, and badges. My guiding principle has always been to make everything beautiful, never limiting myself to a single medium. Art is my passion; it drives me to create and share, regardless of whether it is understood or appreciated by others. It gives my life meaning and purpose. So, what is the significance of this exhibition? In her book “Homo Aestheticus”, Ellen Dissanayake encapsulates the essence of art as “making important things or activities special.” Whether through the artefacts we encounter or the activities we engage in, art has the power to transform the mundane into the extraordinary. I believe that our lives need art and creativity. Therefore, I hope this exhibition will allow attendees to recognize the importance of art and experience the changes it can bring to our lives through observation and participation. Moreover, I will not stop here; I will donate the proceeds from this exhibition to the Children’s Aid Society to improve the living conditions of those children. I believe that only in a safe and happy environment can people create and express themselves.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
