We should never restrict our kids to one particular style of learning. In our Kids Art Class, we believe every child has their own way of learning. Thus, they should never be restricted to focusing on just one particular style.

Instead, at Visual Arts Centre Kids Art Classes, we embrace each children’s style of learning and adapt to their needs while teaching them the foundational techniques to bring their imagination to life. They get to explore different mediums, experiment with various tools, and learn essential art skills that forms the building blocks of their artistic journey.

Our Kids Art Class is conducted in a workshop-class style to encourage collaboration and fosters a sense of community among young artists which provides opportunities for them to develop important communication skills through learning from their peers, and appreciate the diverse perspectives and ideas within the class.

At Visual Arts Centre, we take pride in achieving the right balance between training and individual expression. When assessing your child’s work, we never expect it to be picture-perfect. Every child has their own signature style and their way of interpreting and we respect that each of them may process things differently. Very much like heuristics, children have a way of breaking down the picture references in the easiest way possible for them. Creative Kids Art Immersion Course by Visual Arts Centre provides opportunities for children (aged 5-9 years) to develop artistic knowledge and skills through a range of medium, forms and expression. Students will be able to experience different mediums such as Acrylic, Oil Pastels, Markers, Watercolour and even Chinese Calligraphy!

Creative Kids Art Immersion Course takes on a unique learning approach that encourages children to think out of the box. The course takes the kids through a fun learning journey of discovery and creativity with a wide variety of themes being covered to expand their imagination – indeed, the world is their oyster to explore!

Visual Arts Centre being right above Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station is an easily accessible location with greens right outside the premises of the art studio for kids to play and run around.

Creativity is one of the most important skills to foster in children. To hone one’s skills, children will be allowed to first create their own artwork without any interference. In the Creative Kids Art Immersion Course, your children will be:

  • Experiencing and immersing themselves in oriental art e.g learning calligraphy, gaining knowledge on how to hold and handle a calligraphy brush
  • Doing art and crafts with traditional Chinese rice paper
  • Creating characters from their own imagination / cartoon characters with jumping clay (3D clay moulding, improving their motor skills)
  • Acrylic painting of the kids’ favourite cartoon characters or simple landscape pictures that they fancy
  • Drawing and colouring of different flowers or landscapes or cartoon characters that they can be proud to show you back home
  • Creating a multi-media collage
  • Practicing different painting brush strokes of different mediums

Creative Kids Art Immersion - Kids CLass

Main focus: Creativity and Exploration

Explore and learn to use various art mediums to create art through fun weekly theme. Developing a interest in art and celebrating creativity!

Kids will be taught to sculpt three-dimensional objects to better their motor skills.

For Kids Aged 7 – 10:

Completed artwork under professional instructors guidance.
Visual Arts Centre Drawing and sketching trains observational skills.

Main Focus: Observation and Expression

Kids will be taught observational skills and be introduced to professional art techniques. Explore still-life sketching, creative compositions and more.

Why Should Your Children Learn Chinese Calligraphy?

Children can learn Chinese calligraphy to connect with their heritage and gain a deeper appreciation for Chinese art and history. Through practicing Chinese calligraphy, children can also deepen their understanding of Chinese characters and language structure. Engaging in the precise strokes and intricate movements of Chinese calligraphy can also help children develop fine motor skills as well as improve hand-eye coordination.

Personalised Professional Chinese Calligraphy course starts from basic level and proceeds step by step. Thus, it is suitable for beginners who wish to improve the calligraphy writing.
