Celebrate a decade of artistic growth at Visual Arts Centre with The Art Academy: VAC Open House, a special 10th Anniversary event held at our Dhoby Ghaut Exhibition Gallery.
This Open House offers a unique insight into Visual Arts Centre’s academy-style approach to art education — showcasing how art is taught, practised, and developed across all levels. Through a curated exhibition of student and instructor works, visitors will experience the journey of learning, from foundational techniques to refined artistic expression.
Across three days, explore a vibrant lineup of art workshops and programmes designed for all ages — from young children and teens to adult hobbyists and aspiring artists. These sessions provide an opportunity to experience our classes firsthand, guided by professional instructors in a studio setting.
Whether you are looking to begin your artistic journey, build a portfolio, or simply explore a new creative interest, this Open House is the perfect starting point. Visitors can also enjoy exclusive course promotions, speak with our team about suitable programmes, and receive special goodie bags with new registrations.

With 5500 square feet glass-house exhibition gallery and art studio located directly above the Dhoby Ghaut MRT and housed within the beautiful, lush green habitat of Dhoby Ghaut Green. Supported by the National Parks Board, Visual Arts Centre is Singapore’s premier arts recreational centre with rotating exhibitions, art activities and programmes free for public admission and a professional art studio offering various art courses for training and workshop.
Since its establishment in 2016, the Visual Arts Centre has been an art education institution & art establishment supported by the Singapore Government. Our professional team & artists line-ups provide & customise services with art related courses, activities, exhibitions, tours & events.
Our Dhoby Ghaut Art Studio & Exhibition Gallery, conveniently located above Dhoby Ghaut MRT and nestled within the verdant Dhoby Ghaut Green Park, is a wonderful place for individuals: kids/teens/adults to improve art skills & techniques.

If you are driving, parking is available at nearby malls and buildings: Plaza Singapura, UBS and The Cathay, all within a short walk. Visual Arts Centre is visible when driving from both Penang and Orchard Roads. Drop-off point is at Penang Road/Orchard Road.
Taking the MRT, alight at Dhoby Ghaut train station, which is an interchange for all three distinct lines (i.e red, yellow, and purple lines). Visual Arts Centre is a 60 metre walk from either Exit B or Exit A of the Dhoby Ghaut MRT station, with direct lift access available from the basement Dhoby Ghaut MRT exchange (shops & eateries). Bus stops and taxi stands are available within a 100 metre radius.
Art courses are offered at both Dhoby Ghaut Art Studio and Chinatown Art Studio. Please choose the studio that best suits you.
You will receive a certificate of completion if you complete the 96 art courses or 48 private lessons and 10 one-on-one private lessons.
All sessions are to be completed within the course duration stated. No refunds are provided for any courses/workshops/lesson purchased. Further extension of course validity of up to one month only may be provided with proof of overseas travel, hospitalization/medical certificate.
The course package(s) is/are valid within the stated date of registration. Each session under the adult and teenager course package is 2 hours 15 minutes. Visual Arts Centre reserves the right to reject/reschedule your lesson if you are late. Visual Arts Centre reserves the right to cancel/reschedule/postpone any course/session without prior notice. In the event that the course is unable to proceed due to unforeseen circumstances, a full refund of the fees will be provided. The registrant/guardian of the registrant indemnifies and holds Visual Arts Centre and/or its staff harmless from any losses sustained from any activity within the premises of Visual Arts Centre, including personal injury/loss or damages to property.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
