Overview

An art exhibition featuring Art by the Students, Teachers, and Volunteers of the Colours of Cambodia Art School, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Come, enjoy, this intriguing exhibition highlighting the accomplished art created by students, teachers and volunteers of the Colors of Cambodia Art School and Gallery, of Siem Reap, Cambodia. This is hosted, in Singapore, by Colors of Cambodia founder – Bill Gentry.  This event displays works created within the classroom, as well as pieces born in the Colors of Cambodia gallery, by older students. This show demonstrates the student’s ability to create realistic renderings, with Cambodian themes as well as a leaning towards Cambodian ‘Surrealism’. We, the viewers, are taken on an stunning journey into the vivid and enthralling Cambodian imagination.

Colors of Cambodia originated in 2001, when founder Bill Gentry visited Cambodia and found himself in awe of the highly skilled artists and rich artistic history of the country. He noticed most of the children in Siem Reap’s impoverished villages had no means or platform by which to create art, leaving a very important gap that needed to be filled. The overall mission of Colors of Cambodia is to offer time, materials and a safe place for the children of Siem Reap to develop a sense of self belief by recognizing and developing their own artistic voice and unique style, while understanding art can be both expression and a profession.

Began in 2003, this project has inspired and given hope to many young artists. Prior students have gone on to be respected creative talents/managers within the Cambodian Community. Colors of Cambodia is a sister organisation to the American NGO “ A World of Difference”, also a sponsor of this Singapore exhibition. AWOD, an organisation with hope, uses the aspirational tag line “Art will Save the World”.

Come on down to support this amazing exhibition that is a representation of the efforts put in by Colors of Cambodia, where you will not only be able to witness beautiful art pieces but also support a good cause that could potentially help more students in the long run!
