What is DSA?
Direct School Admission, or DSA, is a way for students to apply to secondary schools based on their interests, aptitude and potential, beyond their performance at the PSLE. This applies to students with an interest in art, with some specialised art schools such as SOTA requiring DSA in order to be admitted into the school.
For students whose goal is to apply for DSA, and who need to improve their art skills and prepare an art portfolio within a limited period of time, one-to-one private art lessons can provide highly targeted support.
Many students encounter difficulties when preparing their portfolios, especially at a young age. Their artworks may not yet meet the required standard, and they may not have explored a range of different art mediums, which can make a portfolio that lacks range/diversity. They may also lack interview experience, or their portfolio may be poorly organised and lack a clear direction.

Throughout the portfolio preparation process, whether students need support with creative concepts or technical details, our teachers can quickly identify problems and provide targeted guidance.
Teachers will assist students throughout the process, including selecting suitable artworks, refining specific areas of individual pieces, and improving the overall quality and presentation of the portfolio. This helps students efficiently develop a complete, high-quality portfolio for their art school applications.
Teachers can also design relevant assignments and conduct mock art school interviews, teaching interview techniques, practising art-related questions and answers, and helping students improve their ability to confidently explain and present their own artworks.
