Experience the beauty of Chinese calligraphy in this 2-hour 15-minute workshop designed for beginners. Begin with an introduction to its rich history and cultural significance, followed by a hands-on session exploring the “Four Treasures of the Study” — brush, ink, paper, and ink stone. Learn proper brush handling, posture, and practise basic strokes in the Kai script (楷书), including writing your own name. The session concludes with a personal artwork — a meaningful phrase or couplet — showcasing your new skills. This workshop offers a thoughtful and artistic introduction to calligraphy as both a cultural tradition and expressive art form.
This workshop introduces learners to the basics of interior and perspective drawings. Suitable for those interested in interior or perspective drawings such as those in interior design, urban sketchers, or anyone with an interest in interior landscape drawing.
This is a one session introduction to still life drawing and sketching. Learners will learn tonal drawing and sketching, and complete a still life drawing work with the skills and techniques of realism tonal drawing and sketching. Learners are guided as a group, as well as individually coached, so they are able to receive direct tips and guidance on their artwork from the professional art instructor. In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
