SG Culture Pass for Art Workshops & Art Programmes

The SG Culture Pass is here to help you discover, enjoy, and engage with Singapore’s vibrant arts and heritage scene.

All Singaporeans aged 18 and above this year will receive $100 worth of credits, which they can use to defray the cost of tickets to attend and participate in various local arts and heritage programmes. These include performances, exhibitions, experiences such as learning tours and participatory workshops, and other cultural offerings.

The SG Culture Pass credits are valid for use across 3 years, from 1 September 2025 to 31 December 2028, via authorised ticketing providers.

SG Culture Pass credits are valid from 1 September 2025 to 31 December 2028, and can be used to offset ticket purchases of these programmes.

How to Redeem your SG Culture Pass Credits

Step 1 - Access your credits

  1. Visit the SG Culture Pass website.
  2. Log in with Singpass to verify your profile.
  3. Once verified, you can view your credits and browse the list of eligible arts and heritage events

Step 2 - Select an event

  1. Search Visual Arts Centre and choose the activities you’d like to attend from the list of eligible events.
  2. Click through to purchase tickets – you’ll be redirected to the event’s authorised ticketing partner.

Step 3 - Apply your credits

  1. At checkout, select SG Culture Pass credits as your payment method.
  2. Log in again via Singpass when prompted.
  3. Once successful, you’ll return to the payment page to compelete your purchase.

Step 4 - Complete your payment

  1. If your credits cover the full ticket price, no additional payment is needed. 
  2. If the credits are not enough, pay the remaining balance using another payment method.
  3. Once payment is complete, your credits will be deducted automatically. 
  4. You can check your transaction history and remaining balance anytime on the SG Culture Pass website.

Experience the beauty of Chinese calligraphy in this 2-hour 15-minute workshop designed for beginners. Begin with an introduction to its rich history and cultural significance, followed by a hands-on session exploring the “Four Treasures of the Study” — brush, ink, paper, and ink stone. Learn proper brush handling, posture, and practise basic strokes in the Kai script (楷书), including writing your own name. This is a one session introduction to still life drawing and sketching. Learners will learn tonal drawing and sketching, and complete a still life drawing work with the skills and techniques of realism tonal drawing and sketching. Learners are guided as a group, as well as individually coached, so they are able to receive direct tips and guidance on their artwork from the professional art instructor. All art materials are provided (for all art workshops at VAC).

World of Manga [Foundation & Styling]
A manga art workshop for children and teenagers sounds like a fantastic idea! Here’s how you might structure it:
Introduction to Manga: Begin by introducing what manga is, its history, and its influence on popular culture worldwide. Show examples of different manga styles and genres to give participants an overview.
Basic Drawing Techniques: Start with the fundamentals of drawing, such as line work, shapes, and proportions. Provide step-by-step instructions on how to draw basic manga characters, focusing on simple shapes that can be built upon.
Character Design: Move on to character design concepts, including creating unique characters, designing their personalities, and developing backstories. Encourage participants to get creative and think outside the box.

Batik Tales

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
