Thinteractions
Against the backdrop of the grandiose and overt, Thinteractions attempts to stretch the prevailing norms of easy designerly experiences that focus on scale and immersion, often at the cost of genuine connection and meaning.
Drawing far inspiration from the Celtic concept of Thin Spaces, the exhibition is an investigation on the potential impact of ‘thin’ techniques and designerly-thinking in interactive experiences. Through this studio exercise, we propose a shift from the systemic expectation of creating large, attention-seeking interactive spaces; instead, we focus on efficiency, sustainability, and the exploration of thin qualities in spatial interactions.
Thinteractions provides budding designers the platform to delve deeper into interactivity, where the emphasis is on the qualities of experiences that resonate with our innermost selves. This approach is not just a design choice but a scarce philosophical stance, questioning and redefining what it means to interact with space and with one another.
This exhibition is an invitation to experience interactivity that hopes to be as spellbinding as the books we read, as fantastic as the places we travel to, and as intimate as the relationships we forge. Join us in experiencing Thinteractions, where the boundaries among space, people, and experience come closer.

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
