Eight landmarks are featured on the mural, including Killiney Road and Emerald Hill.
If you’re walking along Exit C of Somerset MRT station, you’ll probably spot some familiar landmarks rendered in an artistic fashion.
Unveiled by SMRT on Wednesday (Mar 15), the themed mural features a total of eight landmarks – the Mandarin Orchard Hotel, Killiney Road, Sian Teck Tng Temple, Cuppage Terrace, Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, Emerald Hill, The Heeren and Youth Park.
The mural was designed by a five-man team from the Visual Arts Centre, and took four weeks to complete.
Each landmark is significant to Somerset’s history. They include Emerald Hill, which was home to many Peranakan families in the early 1900s, while Youth Park is a popular spot for youths since its opening in 1996, alongside the former National Youth Centre.
