视觉艺术中心(Visual Arts Centre, VAC)近期获得新加坡华文媒体《联合早报》的报道,介绍在牛车水摩士街20B举行的展览 《欢迎回家!——Utterly Art艺术家重返摩士街20B》。
该展览汇集约20位曾与Utterly Art画廊合作的艺术家,他们再次回到这个具有历史意义的空间,通过绘画与综合媒介作品呈现多样化的艺术创作。展览不仅回顾艺术家与这一空间之间长期建立的联系,也象征着艺术社群在新的阶段重新聚首。
摩士街20B曾是Utterly Art画廊的重要据点,多年来举办过许多本地艺术展览。如今,该空间由视觉艺术中心重新打造为一个融合 艺术画廊、艺术工作室以及公众艺术活动空间 的多功能艺术场所,为艺术家和公众提供一个更开放的艺术交流平台。
展览以“欢迎回家”为主题,寓意艺术家重返熟悉的创作空间,同时也象征艺术社群之间的情感联系与归属感。通过不同媒介与艺术语言,参展艺术家分享他们对于城市、记忆与文化身份的观察与表达。

In the Batik Introduction Handkerchief Painting workshop, participants will learn the traditional art of batik, a wax-resist dyeing technique originating from Indonesia. The workshop begins with a brief history and overview of batik, highlighting its cultural significance and various techniques. Participants will then observe a demonstration of applying wax with tjanting tools and dyeing the fabric. Following the demonstration, each participant will design and create their own batik handkerchief, applying wax to create patterns and then dyeing their fabric. The workshop concludes with a group discussion, allowing participants to share their creations and reflect on their learning experience.
