Rembrandt Portrait Drawing (Without materials)

Rembrandt’s magnificent portrait of ‘Man in a Feathered Cap’ is the ideal subject for learning how to draw three-dimensional portraits.

In this two-session workshop you will begin your training with striking shape. This is the critical skill that every artist needs to master if they are to establish a solid foundation upon which to grow.

From striking shape you will learn how to establish the facial proportionsand acquire an understanding of the planar structure of the head: anothercritical skill. We will be rendering the planar structure utilizing apainterly approach of blocking-in and lifting-out.

In Session two you will learn how to succinctly place and articulate the features of the face while finely developing the forms with delicate cross-hatching.
