Art Immersion 24 Sessions (Oil Painting/Acrylic Painting/Watercolour Painting/Drawing and Sketching)

Visual Arts Centre brings to you our MOST popular Art Immersion – Oil Painting, Acrylic Painting, Watercolour Painting, and/or Drawing and Sketching course – 24 sessions (plus additional 2 sessions) mixed medium package! This is suitable for all levels of art experience, and there’re many advantages of having a flexibility of mediums to choose from in your art learning, and all art materials are provided for all art courses at Visual Arts Centre, so fret not about having to purchase any paints or equipment!

Whether you are a beginner who has never lifted a paint brush since your mandatory art classes in school or someone who has art experience, fret not! This course is suitable for anyone. Within this package, art students will get to do art of all mediums, ranging from Drawing and Sketching to Painting (including Oil Painting, Acrylic Painting and Watercolour Painting). This art immersion course will be nothing short of amazing and your art journey will be filled with exploration and wonder! Our lesson schedule is flexible for your convenience and the validity for this package is 10 months – to ensure that there is ample time for you to take your time to learn the basic techniques and create works that you can call your own, all under the guidance of our professionally trained artists.

There are many reason why this package is especially popular with our students! One of them being the flexibility to switch between mediums (e.g after doing drawing and sketching, you can go on to dabble in oil painting). For students who are looking to try all mediums, you can look forward to grasping the foundation level of the techniques of using any mediums! On the other hand, for students who are looking to be really well versed in one medium (e.g being REALLY good at oil painting), we would recommend you to dedicate all sessions to focusing on and learning that sole medium. Should you choose to do that, you will be able to reach an intermediate level for that medium!

While this art immersion course provides all mediums, you are welcome to join this course if you are looking to solely focus on one medium such as oil painting, watercolour painting or acrylic painting! For people who are looking to learn only drawing and sketching and wish to reach an intermediate level, you can check out more about the 24(+2 free session) Drawing and Sketching course here!

Visual Arts Centre Art Immersion Curriculum

1. Drawing and Sketching

The practice of drawing and sketching is the foundation of all visual arts. By using only line and tone, you achieve solidity and depth of your subjects and systematic training in drawing can be deemed as the first step to the world of art. The practice of drawing is therapeutic in nature and helps also cultivates patience, mental alertness, and perseverance.  This course is an introduction to the discipline of drawing, through the honoured tradition of the sketch- the conception of every great piece of art.

Our course is suitable for beginners and artists of all levels of experience and age groups. Students will learn basic concepts of proportion, composition, and shading, and will be given exclusive access to various still life objects and plaster casts, designed to help the student learn. Once the student has cultivated their artistic talents, they can create sketches and drawings of their choice, whatever it may be, under the guidance of a professionally trained artist.

2. Oil Painting

Our Studio classes provide art instruction and guidance from a foundational level. This is to bridge any previous knowledge, and to give complete beginners a hands-down manual of the basics and step-by-step approach to Oil Painting. Though it seems as though this academy-school approach is structured for some, and therefore restrict the freedom of expression, over here at our studio, we aim to teach you to acquire a good art foundation in whichever medium you choose to learn, and it is with skills and techniques that will equip you to explore your individual expressions and achieve your artistic goals – be it Abstract, Realism, Architectural Paintings, Landscape Paintings, or complex Portrait or Figure Paintings!

By painting the above 3 sets, you will be able to focus and learn about the texture of the objects, familiarise yourself with oil painting techniques such as crosshatching, hatching, dry brush, blending etc (different textures would require different brush techniques).
  2. Painting of plaster casts with a background fabric and at the same time, learn how to observe the facial features of the plaster cast. Additionally, students will be taught how to use colours to define the features of the white plaster casts and observe the subtle change of colour used to notice the relationship between the warmer and cooler tones on the plaster casts.
  3. Painting of plaster casts and learning about the proportion and structure of the facial features of the character’s head.
  4. Painting of landscapes through observing photographs or pictures of sceneries. Students will be more informed about perspectives and learn several techniques on how to paint flowers, trees, architectures, street alleys, rivers and oceans.
